Wide receiver Tyler Boyd, long on the free agent market, has finally settled with a new team. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Boyd has signed a one-year contract with the Tennessee Titans, potentially worth up to $4.5 million.
At 29 years old, Boyd, a former second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, is moving on after spending his entire eight-season career with the team. During his tenure, he amassed 513 receptions from 753 targets, totaling 6,000 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns. This move marks a reunion for Boyd with Brian Callahan, the newly appointed head coach of the Titans who previously served as the Bengals’ offensive coordinator.
Boyd’s experience is invaluable, having navigated significant changes within the Bengals organization and played with key quarterbacks like Andy Dalton and A.J. Green, and later Joe Burrow alongside Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase.
The Titans, hopeful about Boyd’s veteran presence, aim to bolster their receiving corps which already includes notable talents such as DeAndre Hopkins and recent addition Calvin Ridley. The team anticipates that Boyd, along with Hopkins and Ridley, will play a crucial role in the development of young quarterback Will Levis, who had a rocky start in his rookie season. The trio’s experience could be pivotal in elevating Levis’s performance in the coming season.
