Fox Sports has announced that Tom Brady will make his broadcasting debut in the Week 1 NFL game featuring the Dallas Cowboys against the Cleveland Browns. This key matchup is scheduled for September 8 at 4:25 p.m. ET.
The game itself is highly anticipated, not only for the on-field action but also because it marks the beginning of Brady’s new career in the broadcasting booth. The legendary quarterback has signed a groundbreaking 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox to serve as their lead color commentator, via The New York Post.
“It’s rare for an NFL game — and a good matchup at that — to be overshadowed by who is in the broadcasting booth,” noted Andrew Marchand of The Athletic. The NFL even permitted Fox to reveal this specific game ahead of the full schedule release, underscoring the significance of Brady’s debut.
The match features the Cowboys, last year’s NFC East champions and perennial fan favorites, against the Browns, who also reached the playoffs and are considered strong contenders in the AFC North. This game is positioned in the highly sought-after late afternoon slot and will face no competing NFL game on CBS, which will be airing the US Open tennis tournament during this time.
Brady’s transition to broadcasting has been eagerly awaited, with his entry into media being one of the major stories of Week 1. As he steps into this new role, all eyes will be on whether his broadcast performance can match his exceptional NFL career.
