Now that two men have been accused in connection with the deaths of his wife and Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, Jan Cilliers, the husband of late model Christy Giles, hopes “the full truth comes out.”
Jan Cilliers asserts that he is prepared for the truth to surface.
Giles’ husband stated that he is “relieved” with the way the case is going after two individuals were charged in relation to the deaths of Christy Giles and Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola.
“I am very relieved to hear that the Los Angeles DA’s office has committed to going forward with the murder charges against David Pearce and Brandt Osborne,” Cilliers said in an exclusive statement to E! News on July 5. “There can never be true justice for the deaths Christy and Marcella. Nothing will ever bring them back, and their deaths will affect the rest of our lives.”
He further said, “The best we can hope for now is that the full truth comes out and that they are put away for the maximum amount of time, so they can no longer hurt anyone else.”
In a statement to E! News, Pearce’s attorney defended his client. “Mr. Pearce strongly denies any wrongdoing in these unfortunate deaths,” his attorney Jacob Glucksman. “It has taken nearly a year to file the charges because the evidence is so glaringly weak. The DA’s Office and law enforcement have had trouble locating any fire and just seem to be breathing a lot of smoke.”
As per Eonline, whether Osborn has legal counsel and who can speak for him are yet unknown.
Previously, Cilliers referred to his wife as a person who was “very kind to everybody” she encountered.
“She lived her life to the fullest,” he told E! News in April. “She had a great group of friends that loved her and admired her. She brought a lot of joy to a lot of people’s lives.”
After a night out, Giles and Cabrales-Arzola were found unresponsive on November 13, 2021, outside two different hospitals in Los Angeles County. Giles, 24, was pronounced dead that evening, but Cabrales-Arzola was kept in critical condition and passed away a few weeks later.
Both women died from drug intoxication, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Office, Coroner’s and both deaths were determined to be homicides.
In relation to the killings of Giles and Cabrales-Arzola, Pearce, Osborn, and Michael Ansbach, 47, were detained one month later. Pearce was charged with manslaughter, while Ansbach and Osborn were both accused of being accessories to manslaughter.
Previously, the district attorney’s office for Los Angeles County declined to prosecute the men for crimes related to the deaths of the ladies and instead remanded the case to investigators for additional inquiry.
Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón confirmed Pearce’s new charges of two counts of murder and two counts of selling, transporting, and furnishing a prohibited narcotic in a news release on July 5.
Osborn was accused of being an accessory after the fact on two charges. On July 11, both men are expected to be charged.
Ansbach is not charged in the case.
According to Gascón, Pearce was detained in December 2021 on charges of sexually abusing four women. This arrest had nothing to do with the Giles/Cabrales-Arzola investigation.
According to a press release issued at the time and acquired by E! News, he was accused of two charges of forced rape, one crime of rape of an unconscious or asleep person, and one offence of sexual penetration by a foreign object.
Per the release, Pearce was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in August 2010, raping a woman in February 2019 and raping two other women in separate incidents in 2020.
The case is still pending, and Pearce’s lawyer continues to refute the accusations. On July 5, Gascón requested that any further victims come forward and get in touch with the authorities if they had any interactions with Pearce or Osborn.
