William Loyd Cagle was taken into custody in Colorado on Tuesday and charged with murder. Deputies in South Carolina arrested a man who had been reported missing along with a woman after finding a body at a home.
William Loyd Cagle, also known as Todd, was apprehended in Colorado shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday. According to a news release from the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, he has been charged with murder.
According to a missing person flyer, Cagle and Terry Ann Chermak was last seen on September 9 in the Greenville, South Carolina, area. Cagle is Chermak’s boyfriend, according to the Rock Hill Herald newspaper.
The body found at a home on Neely Ferry Road in Laurens has yet to be identified. According to a witness, deputies were on the property in connection with the missing person case, said a sheriff’s spokesperson, who declined to answer further questions Wednesday.
Online records do not show an attorney authorized to speak on his behalf, and it is unclear whether he pleaded guilty or not to the charge. Cagle and Chermak were last seen on September 9 in downtown Greenville, South Carolina, according to a missing person flyer distributed previous to Cagle’s arrest. According to various reports, the couple was in a dating relationship.
According to the flyer, Cagle’s phone was last pinged in North Carolina on Saturday evening, while Chermak’s phone was last pinged in Florida on Sunday morning. “This investigation is ongoing and further details will be released at a later time to protect the integrity of this case,” the news release says. The investigation remains ongoing.
