Cleveland Cavaliers forward Evan Mobley is set to miss at least one week of action after sustaining a sprained left ankle, as reported by The Athletic.

Mobley suffered the injury during the Cavaliers’ remarkable 22-point comeback victory over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. The incident occurred when he turned his ankle following a dunk with 5:29 left in the third quarter.

Unable to walk off the court immediately, Mobley received assistance from guard Sam Merrill, who committed a foul to allow for his exit. Caris LeVert promptly replaced Mobley, who was subsequently escorted to the locker room by trainers and later seen on crutches.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Cavaliers announced that Mobley would undergo further evaluation in approximately one week, though the exact duration of his absence remains uncertain.

This setback adds to a series of injuries for the 22-year-old, who has been averaging 15.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game this season. Earlier in the season, Mobley missed six weeks following knee surgery in late 2023.

The Cavaliers’ narrow 105-104 triumph over the Celtics was pivotal in maintaining their pursuit of the Milwaukee Bucks for the Eastern Conference’s second seed, particularly amidst their current injury woes.

Mobley now joins starters Donovan Mitchell (left knee) and Max Strus (right knee) on the sidelines for an indefinite period. Consequently, Cleveland has ruled Mobley out for their Wednesday night matchup against the Atlanta Hawks.
